Engineering Design Challenge
Engineering Design Challenge (EDC) is a Pacific MESA only event. This means there is no regional competition for this challenge.
Students can be in teams of 2-3.
On MESA Day, teams are presented with a project that they will work on for sessions 1 and 2. They will not know what the project is until they arrive to the competition session. They will be briefed on the project requirements then sent to their working rooms.
In their working rooms they will be given a bag with materials. They can only use these materials and tools in the room to build their project.
For 2026 MESA Day, the competition will be biology focused. Students will receive a link to study guide and videos to review ahead of time.
On MESA Day, February 28th, they will go to the EDC competition location and will be briefed on what they will spend the day building.
Awards will be given in the following divisions:
Middle school all grades (6th-8th)
High school all grades (9th-12th)
